Before embarking on the route, it'd be a wise idea to stock up on 5, maybe 6 parlyz heals. Then heal your pokemon
if needed. Then you can go.
You'll go north of Slateport City and find a house. The house is actually the entrance to Cycling path, the faster way
with bikes. Of course, you don't have a bicycle yet, so you'll just have to take the longer way (sigh). Keep heading North
and you will see a second house. This is called the Trickster's house, where there are many puzzles, prizes, items, and trainers.
You can only enter it with certain badges, though. You might even be allowed to enter right now! If you want you can.
To the West will be some trainers, route 103, and some berries past a cutable shrub. The trainers are few, and the shortcut
can only be used with the HM surf, so don't bother to go there.
To the East is your main route. There are quite a few electric pokemon there, so be on your guard with parlyz heals.
By the way, here's a secret: You're able to cut the grass, minimizing the number of wild pokemon. the trainers are hotcake
if you have pokemon ranging in levels from 14 to 20. Fighting pokemon will be of use here, too. The first trainer you will
encounter will be a youngster. Beat him and head back to heal. You'll soon be facing Brendan or May! It would also help train
some more, seeing as he/she will have level 20 pokemon. then you can battle! He/She will have:
If you got Treecko: Level 18 Wailmer, Level 18 Numel, Level 20 Torchic.
If you got Torchic: Level 18 Wailmer, Level 18 Shroomish, Level 20 Mudkip.
If you got Mudkip: Level 18 Numel, Level 18 Shroomish, Level 20 Treecko.
Before battle, you might also want to have certain pokemon to back up your starter pokemon, if you still have it. For
example: Torchic vs. Mudkip. Also use Shroomish.
After you finish the battle, she/he will give you an itemfinder, a neat device that locates hidden or unseen items. Pretty
useful! Use it along the rest of the route to find more objects. Then, he/she rides away on her bike. Bike? I wonder why he/she
didn't go onto the cycling road. Anyway, keep going Northbound.
There will be more trainers, tougher trainers, but if you easily beat Brendan/May then you should easily beat the other
trainers. After that, you'll finally get out of the grass! There will be a small patch of berries, too.
Mauville City
Pokemon Center
Head here immediately after coming from route 110 if you need to. There is also a "weird" guy in the upper-left corner
of the center. He will vary who he is. I mean that he might be a story teller or a singer or even someone else. You can talk
to him to do stuff with him and change him by mixing records.
Game Corner
This is a giant, purple building to the Western side of the City. You can't miss it. Inside are roulettes and slot machines.
One girl inside gives you a doll. To play the games you have to have a coin case. This is where the Harbor mail from
Slateport comes handy. To the left of the mart is a house. Inside of the house is a woman. She is depressed about losing at
the slots and gives you a coin case for the harbor mail. Now you can play the games! Yay! Some people playing the slots will
give you some coins. At the counter a lady gives you coins, but for an outrageous price! 1,000$ for just 50 coins! 10,000$
for only 500 coins! It might be a rip-off, but buy them if you need to. There are two ladies next to her that give prizes
to people with lots of coins, and I mean lots. The dolls cost 3000 coins and the TMs range from 1500 to 4500
coins! Exit whenever you feel like it. Try to get the TM flamethrower.
Rydel's Bike Shop
This is a bike shop to the right of eight bicycles. Inside is Rydel, the proud owner of them. He will gladly give you
a bike if you ask. You can choose from eaither an Acro Bike or a Mach Bike. The Acro bike is recommended for starters, and
does tricks, but the Mach bike goes much faster. The Acro bike does the following tricks: Hold down B to
do a bunny hop. Release to stop. Hold B while moving to do a wheelie. Let go to stop. Press B
and any direction on the D-pad to do a side jump. The Mach bike simply goes fast, with a slow start.
Hm Rock Smash
This Hm is in a house to the right of where you get to Mauville. There is a guy who comments on your good pokemon and
gives it to you. This Hm can only be used after beating the gym leader, Wattson. It will enable you to bust up the rocks in
Rusturf Tunnel and to get to Route 111.
Wally
When you want to, head on over to the gym. Wally will be blocking the way, though. Remember him? He's the rookie that
you "helped" catch a Ralts. He is arguing with his dad that he and his Ralts can beat Wattson. When he sees you, he
asks for a battle. You can say yes or no, but you'll have to face him sometime or other. When you say yes, he will start the
battle. Wally is a bit of a pushover. His Ralts is only on level 16. You can easily beat him. When beaten, he will lose confidence
and head back with his dad to Verdanturf. Follow him if you wish, but be prepared for tough trainers along the way, or just
go into the gym.
Gym Leader
Enter the gym to face the Mauville City challenge! Wattson is not a pushover like Wally. The gym is like a puzzle that
you have to complete before you're able to get to Wattson, and the extra trainers make it harder. Some of the trainers have
the usual gym-type Pokemon, and in this case it's electric. But other trainers like the youngster and the battle girl have
no electric Pokemon. How the Battle Girl got there, I don't know, but she probably tried to beat Wattson, failed, and couldn't
get back to the entrance. She has a level 19 Meditite. It can be beaten easily if you whupped trainer Brendan/May. The youngster
has a level 19 Zigzagoon. Easier than the Meditite. Beat it, too. There is a guitarist with three (3) level 17 Voltorbs. They
should be as easy, but harder as there are more to defeat. There is one last trainer in the gym, another guitarist. He has
an Electrike on level 18 and a Magnemite on level 18. I don't have any tips on beating them except that you ought to have
a Ground, Fighting, or Rock Pokemon. This will make it easier to beat the gym trainers and the leader. After reaching Wattson,
you can choose to battle or go to the nearest Pokemon Center. When you battle, he will start off by sending out his level
22 Magnemite. Try to have a Parlyz heal, full restore, full heal, and maybe some soda pop with you, as the Pokemon he sends
out will try to paralyz you. Beat up his Magnemite with Ground moves, rock moves, or even fighting moves. Once the Magnemite
is beaten, he will send out his level 20 Voltorb. The Voltorb will use Shock Wave to hit you. Wattson's pokemon know shock
wave because he finds it a powerful electric type move. The Voltorb will unexpectedly use its self-destruct move. Try to figure
out when it will use it, because it can be avoided with protect. After the Voltorb is knocked out (Maybe even by itself),
Wattson will send out his prized level 23 Magneton. This is the powerful trio evolution of Magnemite, and launches powerful
attacks. Try and quickly send him out of submission with a ground move, fire move, or fighting move. Since Magneton is both
steel and electric type, he will be very weak against fighting type pokemon. He will still try to put up a fight with his
moves, like shock wave. Soon he will fall and you will win! Wattson will give you the Dynamo Badge as your reward. Now you
have the Dynamo Badge! Is it just me, or is this walkthrough a little long even though this is the third badge? He will
also give you the TM Shock Wave, a powerful move that might paralyze the foe. You've probably seen him use it, so you know
what it does. Now that he's beaten, you can continue on to Verdanturf.
